Part 1 · The disease

Pyrin, animated

Pyrin is a guard protein inside neutrophils and monocytes. It does not look for microbes directly. It watches a cellular switch called RhoA, and fires when that switch goes quiet. FMF variants make the guard jumpy. Pick a genotype and a stimulus, then press play.
